August Ipsy Bag

I received the following:

  • Coastal Scents- Eyeshadow Sampler
  • Jersey Shore Sun- Anti-Aging Lip Conditioner
  • Cali Cosmetics- Evulcano Body Creme
  • Urban Decay- Perversion Mascara
  • Manna Kadar Cosmetics- Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion

My review…The bag this month is really cute. A big improvement from last month’s bag.

*Eyeshadow Sampler- I have a couple of custom Coastal Scents palettes, as well as the Revealed and Revealed 2 palettes. And I love them all! All four shades in this sampler are nice, but laguna green is da bomb. It’s the one on the upper right, above the dark blue shade. It’s a gorgeous green. Their shadow pots are $1.95 each and you can purchase a single, four piece, twelve piece, or twenty-eight piece palette to put them in. Would I purchase their shadows? I already have and highly recommend them. Ipsy Deal- 25% off your purchase at coastalscents.com with code blush25off. Expires 10/6/14

*Lip Conditioner(Full-size)- I love the smell of this stuff. It smells like lemon. I love that it’s USDA certified. It’s very moisturizing; however, I prefer to use it at night since it’s more of a heavy lip balm. Full-size is $5.50. Would I purchase it? Yes. Ipsy Deal- 50% off all Jersey Shore Sun Lip Conditioners at jerseyshoresun.com with code IPSY50. Expires 9/30/14

*Body Creme- It’s thick but airy at the same time. It’s a souffle-like texture. It absorbs quickly and also smells like lemon. It has volcanic minerals in it, which is interesting. This would be good to use to keep yourself moisturized throughout the day without looking like a greaseball. You can purchase it in three sizes: 30ml($4), 8.5 oz($24), or 16.9 oz($36). The sample is the 30ml size. Would I purchase it? Yes. Ipsy Deal- 25% off any purchase at calicosmetics.com with code IPSY25. Expires 9/30/14

*Mascara- The wand is nice and it creates a lot of volume, which I like. It doesn’t flake. I love the metallic packaging. Overall, it’s a really good mascara. Full-size is $22. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Shimmer Lotion- Even though it’s a peachy color it goes on sheer once you blend it in. I love it. The shimmer particles are so small that it doesn’t obviously look like glitter. I wasn’t too thrilled when I initially saw it in my bag, but in the end it was a pleasant surprise. Full-size of 1 fl oz is $29. Would I purchase it? Yes. Ipsy Deal- Receive 20% off any purchase plus a free sample of liplocked at mannakadarcosmetics.com with code IPSY20. Expires 10/21/14

August Birchbox

This month you had a choice of the Everygirl box(which stated the samples you would receive), one sample that would be in your box, or a box curated based on your responses to the questionnaire. I chose the Everygirl box.

I received the following:

  • Benefit- They’re Real Push-up Liner
  • Harvey Prince- Hello Fragrance
  • Acure Organics- Brightening Facial Scrub
  • Number 4- Super Comb Prep & Protect
  • Not Soap, Radio- Body Wash

My review…

*Eyeliner- I don’t like this at all. It applies really dry. And when I pressed down on it a little bit a big glob of it came out. That was annoying. Maybe I received a bad sample, but the product sucked. Full-size of 0.04 oz is $24. Would I purchase it? No

*Fragrance- It smells fruity. It has meyer lemon, mandarin, grapefruit, forsythia, and plumeria notes in it. It’s a feminine, spring scent. I like it. Full-size of 50ml is $55. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Scrub- I love this stuff. I already have it and it’s my favorite scrub. I love that it’s all natural. It’s paraben-free with argan stem cells, chlorella growth factor, French green clay, and lemon peel. I use my ring finger to scrub my face with it instead of my Clarisonic because it’s kind of gritty. It is expensive at $15; however, it’s the best scrub I’ve used. Full-size is 4 oz. Would I purchase it? I already own it :-)

*Leave-In Conditioner Spray- It smells kind of funny. It’s not a bad smell, just weird. I feel like with leave-in conditioners a couple of weeks isn’t enough to adequately review them. It’s just alright. I do like that it has natural ingredients though. Full-size of 200ml is $32. Would I purchase it? No

*Body Wash- This smells really good. It’s an awesome lemony smell. It lathers well too. It would be real nice as a bubble bath. Full-size of 13.61 fl oz is $16. Would I purchase it? Yes

ColourPop Eyeshadows

Recently I purchased seven ColourPop eyeshadows. They’re really pigmented and well worth $5(each). The company included this cute note with my order. Here’s a closer look at each shade…

This is Fantasy. It’s purple with blue glitter.

This is Ibiza. It’s a gorgeous teal with silver and gold glitter.

This one is Sequin. It’s a copper shade with silver and gold glitter.

This is Sugar. It’s a gorgeous silver blue with silver, champagne, and gold glitter.

This is Get Lucky. It’s a gorgeous gold shade.

This one is my fav..Say Hello To Liberty. It’s like liquid silver and the most pigmented shade out of all of the eyeshadows I purchased.

This one is Envy. It’s black with purple glitter. It’s a great outer V shade.

Here are the swatches. From left to right: Fantasy, Ibiza, Sequin, Sugar, Get Lucky, Liberty(It really is an amazing shade), and Envy.

I love them all and plan on purchasing more. They offer free shipping for any order $30 or more in the US. You can check them out here

Groupon currently has a deal where you can get Michael Todd’s Eye-O-Sonic System and their intensive eye cream for $19.99(shipping is $3.99). Typically these products combined are $107.

PMD Personal Microderm Device- On Sale!!

image

*Photo is from PMD Personal Microderm’s website.

On August 7th Good Morning America had a deal for the PMD Microdermabrasion device for $58(add $4 for shipping). The deal is going on until they sell out. So you can still purchase the device for $62. This is an awesome deal because the device retails for $179 on the manufacturer’s website. It also appears as if you are able to use a discount code on their website. Several YouTube gurus have 25% off coupon codes. This will bring the price to $51.45 including shipping.

For those of you that are not familiar with microdermabrasion it basically removes dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. It also removes dark spots and blemishes, as well as reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s supposed to leave your skin looking and feeling great. It will also allow for your products to absorb better. You can purchase it here. The device is also featured in InStyle Magazine’s Best Beauty Buys of 2014.

**UPDATE: Even though their website will allow you to use a discount code, DO NOT use one. It is not valid with this deal.

L’Oreal Paris Extraordinaire by Color Riche Liquid Lipstick Review

This review is a little late but a couple of months ago I was chosen by Marie Claire Velvet Rope Club to try out L’Oreal’s new lip product. It’s the Extraordinaire by Color Riche. I received shade 304, ruby opera.

It’s very creamy and moisturizing. The color is pigmented. It’s a little bit sticky but not enough to be bothersome. It’s long-lasting and will last through a meal. However, it’s not a lip stain. It doesn’t fully dry so if you touch your finger to your lips a little bit of it will come off. It’s more of a mix between a glossy lip balm and a lipstick. If you’re not into glossy lip products you probably won’t like it.

Overall, I like it. It’s a good product and it won’t dry out your lips. The glossiness of it is not over-the-top. It comes in 16 shades and retails for $9.99. You can purchase it at Ulta, as well as your local drugstore.

Disclaimer: I received this product from Marie Claire for consideration. However, all opinions are my own.

July Birchbox

I received the following:

  • Juice Beauty- Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer
  • Supergoop!- Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream
  • RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer - Ambrosia
  • RUFFIAN- Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes
  • Ofra- Universal Eyebrow Pencil
  • Harvey Prince- Imperial Gardenia Perfume

My review…

*Moisturizer- This has fruit stem cells and vitamin c in it. It’s basically an anti-aging, antioxidant moisturizer. It has a light texture to it and moisturizes well. It has a green apple smell to it. It’s kind of a strong smell, which I don’t like. Because of that, I probably won’t purchase it. Full-size of 1.7 oz is $65. Would I purchase it? No

*Eye Cream- The consistency of this is the same as the Supergoop SPF 30 that I own. It has peptides in it and is supposed to brighten up the eye area. I don’t see any difference between using this product versus the SPF 30 sunscreen. My eye area was not brighter. Full-size of 0.5 fl oz is $45. Would I purchase it? No

*Nail Lacquer (Full-size)- I chose this as my extra sample for this month. It’s a light, metallic purple. I love it! I’m a huge fan of Ruffian’s nail polishes. I love their packaging. Full-size of 0.17 fl oz is $11. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Eyebrow Pencil (Full-size)- I already have this from a previous Ipsy bag. You can check out that review here. Full-size is $13. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Perfume- I really like it. It’s a very spring scent. It’s not overpowering… It’s just.. Lovely :-). Full-size of 8.8 ml is $29. It’s affordable too. Would I purchase it? Yes

Bonus

*Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes-It has a kind of perfumey smell to it. It smells good actually lol. I never thought I’d say that about a nail polish remover. I like that it’s acetone free and it’s great for travel. Full-size set of 10 is $12. Would I purchase it? Yes. I would definitely use these for travel.

July Ipsy Bag

The bag for this month is not cute…at all. It reminds me of something a five-year-old would have. I’m probably going to throw it away. Anywho…

I received the following:

  • bareMinerals- 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow
  • Whet- Nail Polish
  • Pixi- Tinted Brilliance Balm
  • Hang Ten- Dark Tanning Oil
  • Befine- Daily Moisturizer With SPF 15

My review..

* Cream Eyeshadow (Full-size)- These are the five benefits that bareMinerals claims the product has: 12-hour long-wearing color, Supercharged primer, Powerful brightening benefits, Smoothes the appearance of fine lines, and Protects with Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I received the shade divine wine. There was nothing divine about it. It was too dark for my skintone and had a slight shimmer to it. I don’t like that it had shimmer in it. I’m not sure if all of the shades have shimmer in it or not. It’s good if you’re looking for a natural-looking way to cover your eyelid discoloration and/or you don’t wear a lot of eyeshadow and are going for a natural look. Other than that, if you have a primer that you’re already satisfied with, there’s no reason to purchase this. I didn’t see any brightening effects and didn’t use it long enough to see any reduction in fine lines. Full-size is $18. Would I purchase it? I feel like I may have liked it if I received a shade that matched my skintone that didn’t have shimmer in it. However, I’m not jumping up and down to look into that so my answer is no.

*Nail Polish (Full-size)- I received the facetious shade. It’s a gorgeous royal blue color. It’s a good polish. Full-size is $15. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Balm- I received the unique pink shade. It’s sheer. It’s really moisturizing. My lips get dry a lot so I’m always wearing lip balm. I love the twist-up feature. Full-size is $14. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Tanning Oil- Umm I definitely have some color to my skin and don’t have a desire or need to tan. So, I didn’t use this product. Full-size is $11.99. Would I purchase it? No

*Daily Moisturizer- I like that it’s thin and lightweight. That makes it very good to use in the daytime. I also like that it’s natural. It has rosemary, pomegranate, and rice protein in it. It’s also paraben free. It does have a smell to it, but it’s not a bad smell. Overall, I like it. It moisturized my skin and didn’t cause my skin to produce excess oil. Full-size of 1.7 oz is $24. Would I purchase it? Yes

**I’m considering canceling my subscription. I wasn’t too thrilled with this month’s bag or last month’s….So I’ll see what’s in next month’s bag and make a final decision.**
