PMD Personal Microderm Device- On Sale!!

image

*Photo is from PMD Personal Microderm’s website.

On August 7th Good Morning America had a deal for the PMD Microdermabrasion device for $58(add $4 for shipping). The deal is going on until they sell out. So you can still purchase the device for $62. This is an awesome deal because the device retails for $179 on the manufacturer’s website. It also appears as if you are able to use a discount code on their website. Several YouTube gurus have 25% off coupon codes. This will bring the price to $51.45 including shipping.

For those of you that are not familiar with microdermabrasion it basically removes dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. It also removes dark spots and blemishes, as well as reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s supposed to leave your skin looking and feeling great. It will also allow for your products to absorb better. You can purchase it here. The device is also featured in InStyle Magazine’s Best Beauty Buys of 2014.

**UPDATE: Even though their website will allow you to use a discount code, DO NOT use one. It is not valid with this deal.

L’Oreal Paris Extraordinaire by Color Riche Liquid Lipstick Review

This review is a little late but a couple of months ago I was chosen by Marie Claire Velvet Rope Club to try out L’Oreal’s new lip product. It’s the Extraordinaire by Color Riche. I received shade 304, ruby opera.

It’s very creamy and moisturizing. The color is pigmented. It’s a little bit sticky but not enough to be bothersome. It’s long-lasting and will last through a meal. However, it’s not a lip stain. It doesn’t fully dry so if you touch your finger to your lips a little bit of it will come off. It’s more of a mix between a glossy lip balm and a lipstick. If you’re not into glossy lip products you probably won’t like it.

Overall, I like it. It’s a good product and it won’t dry out your lips. The glossiness of it is not over-the-top. It comes in 16 shades and retails for $9.99. You can purchase it at Ulta, as well as your local drugstore.

Disclaimer: I received this product from Marie Claire for consideration. However, all opinions are my own.

July Birchbox

I received the following:

  • Juice Beauty- Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer
  • Supergoop!- Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream
  • RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer - Ambrosia
  • RUFFIAN- Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes
  • Ofra- Universal Eyebrow Pencil
  • Harvey Prince- Imperial Gardenia Perfume

My review…

*Moisturizer- This has fruit stem cells and vitamin c in it. It’s basically an anti-aging, antioxidant moisturizer. It has a light texture to it and moisturizes well. It has a green apple smell to it. It’s kind of a strong smell, which I don’t like. Because of that, I probably won’t purchase it. Full-size of 1.7 oz is $65. Would I purchase it? No

*Eye Cream- The consistency of this is the same as the Supergoop SPF 30 that I own. It has peptides in it and is supposed to brighten up the eye area. I don’t see any difference between using this product versus the SPF 30 sunscreen. My eye area was not brighter. Full-size of 0.5 fl oz is $45. Would I purchase it? No

*Nail Lacquer (Full-size)- I chose this as my extra sample for this month. It’s a light, metallic purple. I love it! I’m a huge fan of Ruffian’s nail polishes. I love their packaging. Full-size of 0.17 fl oz is $11. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Eyebrow Pencil (Full-size)- I already have this from a previous Ipsy bag. You can check out that review here. Full-size is $13. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Perfume- I really like it. It’s a very spring scent. It’s not overpowering… It’s just.. Lovely :-). Full-size of 8.8 ml is $29. It’s affordable too. Would I purchase it? Yes

Bonus

*Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes-It has a kind of perfumey smell to it. It smells good actually lol. I never thought I’d say that about a nail polish remover. I like that it’s acetone free and it’s great for travel. Full-size set of 10 is $12. Would I purchase it? Yes. I would definitely use these for travel.

July Ipsy Bag

The bag for this month is not cute…at all. It reminds me of something a five-year-old would have. I’m probably going to throw it away. Anywho…

I received the following:

  • bareMinerals- 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow
  • Whet- Nail Polish
  • Pixi- Tinted Brilliance Balm
  • Hang Ten- Dark Tanning Oil
  • Befine- Daily Moisturizer With SPF 15

My review..

* Cream Eyeshadow (Full-size)- These are the five benefits that bareMinerals claims the product has: 12-hour long-wearing color, Supercharged primer, Powerful brightening benefits, Smoothes the appearance of fine lines, and Protects with Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I received the shade divine wine. There was nothing divine about it. It was too dark for my skintone and had a slight shimmer to it. I don’t like that it had shimmer in it. I’m not sure if all of the shades have shimmer in it or not. It’s good if you’re looking for a natural-looking way to cover your eyelid discoloration and/or you don’t wear a lot of eyeshadow and are going for a natural look. Other than that, if you have a primer that you’re already satisfied with, there’s no reason to purchase this. I didn’t see any brightening effects and didn’t use it long enough to see any reduction in fine lines. Full-size is $18. Would I purchase it? I feel like I may have liked it if I received a shade that matched my skintone that didn’t have shimmer in it. However, I’m not jumping up and down to look into that so my answer is no.

*Nail Polish (Full-size)- I received the facetious shade. It’s a gorgeous royal blue color. It’s a good polish. Full-size is $15. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Balm- I received the unique pink shade. It’s sheer. It’s really moisturizing. My lips get dry a lot so I’m always wearing lip balm. I love the twist-up feature. Full-size is $14. Would I purchase it? Yes

*Tanning Oil- Umm I definitely have some color to my skin and don’t have a desire or need to tan. So, I didn’t use this product. Full-size is $11.99. Would I purchase it? No

*Daily Moisturizer- I like that it’s thin and lightweight. That makes it very good to use in the daytime. I also like that it’s natural. It has rosemary, pomegranate, and rice protein in it. It’s also paraben free. It does have a smell to it, but it’s not a bad smell. Overall, I like it. It moisturized my skin and didn’t cause my skin to produce excess oil. Full-size of 1.7 oz is $24. Would I purchase it? Yes

**I’m considering canceling my subscription. I wasn’t too thrilled with this month’s bag or last month’s….So I’ll see what’s in next month’s bag and make a final decision.**

Maybelline The Nudes Palette Review

I recently purchased this at Walgreens for $7 something. It was 40% off. It includes 12 shades. Here are my swatches:

This is a swatch of the 1st row. The 1st shade is a gorgeous shimmer that has a slight pink to it. It’s a really good inner corner shade. The other standout shade in this row is the 4th one. It’s a very pigmented bronze shade. The third shade in this row is chalky. The last shade is patchy. The 2nd and 5th shades are nice.

These are the swatches of the 2nd row. The first five shades are really pigmented. The gold shade is really nice. However, the black shade is the worst shade in the palette. It’s very patchy. It’s just…no. That shade was a major disappointment. Tsk tsk Maybelline.

Overall, I recommend this palette. It’s definitely worth the $7 something I paid for it. That’s less than $1 a shadow. It’s a good neutral palette for beginners. On the back are guides on how to use it as either a duo, trio, or quad.

You can purchase it at your local drugstore. Your local Wal-Mart and/or Target may carry it as well.
